When Richelle Marie Photography asked me if I wanted to join her on a short trip to California last April I was immediately so excited to visit one of my absolute favourite places in the world again!

We flew from Vancouver , Canada to Los Angeles, California on a Thursday morning and found our way to our Air BnB near Venice Beach, which was absolutely gorgeous! We spent the first couple of days exploring Hermosa and Venice Beach, ventured into Downtown LA and ate some seriously delicious tacos while taking photos of ourselves and others in each location. I spent each morning getting myself, Richelle and the other three girls who came along with us ready to take photos and sight see.

On our third day in LA we headed to Malibu and it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. California was experiencing a super bloom due to an end of their draught and the wildflowers cascading near the shore line was breathtaking. We spent the afternoon swimming and laying at Zuma beach, and later headed to Leo Carrillo, which is where Grease, American Sniper and other films were shot.

On our final day in California we took a short road trip to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park. Driving into the desert was absolutely beautiful and there were so many beautiful photo ops. Coachella was taking place in Palm Springs that weekend and so there were numerous funky-dressed people travelling on the highways who allowed Richelle to take their photos.

We stopped in at a botanical garden in Palm Springs to see all of the native Californian succulents and plants and take a few photos amongst the cacti.

Next, we continued driving towards Joshua Tree National Park from Palm Springs and the scenery through the desert was absolutely gorgeous. There were windmill farms all over and the strongest winds I have ever felt.

Our final stop of our trip was the absolutely breathtaking Joshua Tree National Park. The trees were so unique and the desert sand and lone road through the park was the perfect backdrop to our photos.

California was a trip to remember and I cannot wait to travel more for work in 2020! Doing hair and makeup out the back of our rental car all over the state was a dream come true and I am so thankful for the opportunity to see the world while doing what I love.
